China's consumer prices dipped 0.3 percent in April as
against the same month last year, with prices in urban areas up 0.1 percent, according to
the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The latest NBS figures show the nation's consumer price index (CPI) stood at 99.7 in
April, taking that of the same month last year as 100. The figure was 100.1 in urban areas
and 99.3 in rural areas, respectively.
Price index of services stood high at 114.6, representing the biggest price hike in the
month, while that of eggs stood at 77.4, the lowest of all.
Between January and April, consumer prices remained the same on an annual basis as the CPI
stood at 100. Prices of fresh vegetables increased fastest during the period, posting a
year-on- year growth of 21.3 percent.
